Many times, people expect a miracle after just one body session or facial. No matter how good your massage therapist or Esthetician we cannot perform miracles. However, we can help you improve your well being and meet your skincare goals if you are willing to commit to a program which involves coming in for regular treatments and doing some work at home.

“Homecare” is one of the most over looked components of getting the results you desire. It would be like going to the dentist every 6 months and not brushing your teeth in between. Regardless of what problems you want to address from injury to anti-aging you must implement regular selfcare practices.

Here are some tips to help you maintain your results after a professional treatment.

  1. Follow “post care” instructions – After receiving a facial, massage or Ortho-bionomy we always recommend follow up care. This is because we realize there may be soreness, skin flaking or irritation after a treatment. When you stimulate the body you trigger the repair process. Healing takes time and special attention so following instructions the week after your treatment is crucial.
  2. Aide in detoxification – After any body work or facial toxins will be released and it’s important to help your body remove them naturally. Drinking lots of clean, filtered water is the most effective way to do this. Most of us don’t drink nearly enough water. Half your weight in ounces per day is recommended and if you drink caffeine or alcohol even more. Another great way to detox is through salt baths. My favorites are Epsom or Himalayan salt a couple times a week. This will help flush toxins and acid build up in the muscles.
  3. Use your products – Most likely you have purchased skincare, body care or even tools to use at home. This is a important part of maintaining your results. The skin and body need nourishment between treatments. Using that serum daily, practice self-massage, apply moisturizer, essential oils, dry brush, jade rolling or whatever you decide to commit to. This will play an important role in the healing process.
  4. Stretch & move your body – This is more than just exercise. Most likely your therapist gave you some stretching or mobility moves to keep your muscles loose and flexible. Do them every week! They will change as your body begins to heal and release tension. Listen to what your body is telling you, if it feels good do more of it and if it hurts don’t do it.
  5. Eat healthy – Nutrition is the key component to look and feel great. Everything you put into your body is showing up on your skin or as pain and inflammation. Pay attention to how you feel after eating healthy food. Try not to over complicate things, eat fresh, organic veggies, fruit, whole grains and hormone free lean meats. Don’t forget healthy fats to keep your skin hydrating and your joints mobile.

I hope this helps you on your journey to better health!

A recent discovery I had is the fact that some clients feel obligated to invest in additional services or products when they come in for their appointment. The last thing we want is for people to feel pressured or unwelcome when they come in for a much needed spa service. Quite the opposite! My mission at Elevate is to make our services accessible to everyone who sees value in what we offer and wants to invest in themselves no matter what that looks like.

Today all ages are taking advantage of what spas have to offer. The mindset is prevention, education and implementing wellness practices into our lifestyle. Investing in ourselves is common sense and increases our happiness. The old way of thinking that it’s selfish to take care of yourself is out and self love is in.

We are here to help you on your health journey and give you the tools to look and feel better. That could be anything from taking one of our weekly yoga classes, having your brows done, getting a massage, addressing pain or structural issues through Ortho-Bionomy or coming in for a Facial. Some people are only interested in investing in quality skincare for home use and we are here to make sure you get the right products for your skin type and concerns.

Let’s talk about what type of client you are. There’s no judgement here or right answers.

Client A – Realizes they need a treatment such as massage when they are dealing with stress or pain. May only come in when they have a problem, quarterly or a couple times a year.
Client B – Has a specific need such as brow shaping, an event coming up or a recent injury. Appointments are only scheduled based on their current circumstance.
Client C – Wants to change their lifestyle for the better. They are interested in anti-aging, skin health and want to address it naturally and proactively without medication or invasive procedures. Ready to invest in regular treatments and home care to improve quality of life. Usually comes in between once and four plus times a month for various services.

If you are interested in customizing a treatment plan book online for a in-house or virtual consultation and let’s get started.

Improve your quality of life through these simple steps

  1. Practice mobility often – Range of motion & joint mobility are so important in our everyday life. Regardless of your fitness level or lifestyle keeping your body flexible will decrease pain, muscle soreness and fatigue. Three times a week for 10-20 minutes will make a huge difference in how you feel!
  2. De-stress through mediation, journaling and mindfulness – Small things make a big impact. Consistency is the key so start by committing to just one day a week. Go on you tube and search a guided meditation for 10-20 minutes and just lay there. Grab some paper and write down your thoughts whatever they may be. Go outside and just sit there and observe your surroundings, be present. I promise you it will be worth it.
  3. Physical Touch – We all need to be touched in a loving way. Spa treatments are a great place to start. It’s a safe place you can shut off the outside world and relax. Healing touch is powerful and will help you let go of trapped emotions and pain. Practice this often even if it’s self massage or hugging the people you love.
  4. Feed your body nutrients – You’ve heard it a million times but a smoothie packed with fresh ingredients is a simple way to mega dose your body will all the goodness it needs to function well. Google some recipes there’s lots to choose from.
  5. Give yourself a mini facial – When we look good we feel good. The skin is your largest organ and it’s was people see first. Nourish is with a hydrating facial mask, simple massage or a gentle enzyme. Think moisture, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and avoid toxic over the counter skincare. This is a great place to find non-toxic products. https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/#.W60X6aZKjIV

At Elevate we are all about Holistic solutions for better health and promoting selfcare using clean non-toxic services and products that provide results and help the body heal. Last year we decided to add the Himalayan Salt Stone Massage to our menu after reading all the healing benefits and our clients love this service! The spa has now added a variety of salt products for home use including the dry salt inhaler, deodorant spray, bath salts, chunk salt for ingesting and individual stones for self-massage.

The more I read and learn about the healing benefits of Himalayan Salt the more amazed I become. The Salt mines in the Himalayan mountains are one of the last untouched pure mineral sources of the earth. This salt contains 84 minerals that our bodies need to function properly. With the pollution of our water and soil even when eating healthy and organic we are not getting the nutrition we need. The studies I’ve been reading talk about drinking “sole” which is a salt solution using pure chunky Himalayan Salt mixed with living water in a very specific ratio daily to cleanse the body, improve our vibration, absorb these vital minerals and much more. I have been implementing this practice and wow what a difference. Better energy, digestion, mental clarity, and more. I did notice a detoxing effect the first week, which means it’s working. Even just soaking in a bag full of pure Himalayan salt can be equivalent to a 3 days cleanse!

I would highly recommend doing your research before implementing these practices and remember this is not regular salt, you are simply replenishing your body using pure and potent minerals. http://www.himalayanlivingsalt.com/book.htm

This time of year we all get busy and can fall out of good routines. I wanted to share some tips on how to protect your skin from UV damage, keep your body feeling good and implement detox strategies at home that will improve our natural repair process.

1. Wear a physical sun protection daily containing Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide (SPF 30), Wear a wide brimmed hat when out in the sun for extended periods of time & try drinkable sun protection! Check it out! https://www.osmosisskincare.com/HarmonizedWater-NoTanUV.aspx

2. Stay Hydrated! Drink plain water throughout the day, everyday. Filtered and artisian spring water are best. Try adding some pink Himalayan salt to a glass of pure water in the morning to flush your system, boost energy, detox and more.

3. Hydrate your skin daily and use antioxidants topically & internally. The more time we spend outdoors the more dehydrated the skin gets. Use quality products full of antioxidants to help replenish depleted skin. Also, consume lots of bright colored fruit & veggies daily. Here are my two favorite anti-oxidant products! https://www.osmosisskincare.com/Replenish.aspx https://www.osmosisskincare.com/NourishFacialOil.aspx

4. Eliminate toxins! Being active is a great way to detox the body but it’s not enough because we are bombarded with toxins everyday from our food, water and environment. I recommend supplementing with an ingredient called DIM (diindolylmethane). This ingredient is derived from cruciferous vegetables and is great for restoring our hormones by removing estrogenic toxins from our bodies. Here’s my favorite brand. https://www.osmosisskincare.com/EnvironmentalDetox.aspx

5. Soak regularly. This is a great ritual not only for relaxation and muscle tension but also detoxification. Fill your bath with water and add a generous amount of Epsom salt or pink Himalayan salt. These salts will pull toxins from your muscles and you will absorb the minerals through your skin. For additional relaxation benefits add 6-8 drops of Lavender essential oil (or your favorite) and soak for at least 20 minutes. Side note: stretching right after a bath will allow your muscles to fully release and help realignment of the body.

Taking time to care for yourself daily/weekly is so important for overall health and well being. I hope you make it a priority and choose at least one of these practices to implement. You won’t regret it!

Sensitive skin is becoming more common due to the following factors: environment, diet, medications, over exfoliation using tools and stripping ingredients in skincare. The good news is there is a solution!

The first step is to remove topical irritants and inflammation. The skin can be aggravated by both external and internal factors. Once you can pinpoint a particular habit, ingredient or food allergy and correct it the skin should calm down. If it’s a matter of climate, sun exposure or dehydration those are easier to remedy.

Next, find the right products for your skin by eliminating exfoliation and letting your barrier repair itself. Your skins barrier referred to as your “acid mantle” which protects you from the invasion of bacteria and harmful ingredients. When compromised the skin can be inflamed, bumpy, red, rough and dry. The best thing to do is occlude the skin with a product rich enough to replenish the oil barrier. A cream containing ingredients to calm while speeding up the healing process are best.

Other key things to remember are wearing a chemical free SPF 30 daily. I prefer a zinc formula or mineral makeup which have added ingredients to calm, hydrate and protect against free radicals. Also, using formulas rich in anti-oxidants will help the skin repair quicker.

Internally, it is important to eat plenty of antioxidant rich foods like greens and blueberries to help decrease inflammation. Turmeric is another great thing to incorporate into your diet. Drink plenty of water, get adequate sleep, avoid excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and medications. This will help your body detox and decrease overall inflammation.

Taking the first steps to managing inflammation is sure to improve the health of your skin and body.

The lymphatic system is part of our circulatory system and is crucial for maintaining good health. It’s a network of blood vessels throughout our body that rid us of unwanted toxins and deliver white blood cells to protect us against viruses and pathogens. You can imagine why supporting this function would be important because it keeps our immune system healthy.

In todays world we are literally bombarded with thousands of toxins, bacteria, pathogens and chemicals everyday. More than ever being proactive about helping our body detox daily is crucial. Luckily our bodies are built like amazing machines and all the systems are in place we just have to support them.

I want to share a few easy ways to stimulate better detoxification through lymphatic drainage and the benefits.

At Home:
Dry brushing – using a natural bristle brush on dry skin brush towards the heart. This can be done daily in 5 minutes or less and is a great way to stimulate the lymphatic system, improve the appearance of cellulite, help with ingrown hairs and gently exfoliate the skin.
Rebounding and exercise – Rebounding is simply bouncing on a indoor trampoline for up to 10 minutes. This and any type of workout that gets your heart pumping is a great way to support your lymphatic system.
Drink lots of water – Because our bodies are composed of mostly water you need to make sure you drink enough pure, clean water (not tap). I believe you should have a ounce for every pound you weigh daily. This may vary depending on lifestyle and where you live.

At The Spa:
Regular massages – This is a powerful way to keep yourself healthy and mobile. Getting a proffessional massage is one of the best ways to detox your tissue, stimulate your lymphatic system, relax and help relief muscle tension. For best results schedule a massage every month.
Acoustic Lymphatic Drainage– This treatment uses acoustic vibrations through a hand held device to help move lymph and reduce inflammation in the body. This treatment can be combined with massage and other therapies to facilitate healing in the body.

We just added Acoustic Lymphatic Drainage to our menu and our clients are experiencing amazing results! Contact us to learn more.

Ortho-Bionomy helps your body Release Pain, Increase Range of Motion and Recover Functionality.

Start your healing process with an Ortho-Bionomy session at Elevate Wellness Spa. During your first session, your body will experience a release of tension followed by more comfort as your body continues to integrate subtle changes at its own pace. Ortho-Bionomy uses a slower process than conventional adjustments. This allows your body and nervous system the time it needs to understand how to release tension’s holding patterns at their own pace. This also allows time for the body to develop strength to support its new, healthy alignment.

Over the course of your following sessions, you’ll learn simple Ortho-Bionomy techniques using gentle and specific positioning that will help your body continue releasing tension and relieving pain. You’ll take home with you a customized self-care protocol to help support your new healthy pain free lifestyle.

Self-Care will help your body maintain your natural alignment of comfort and will give your body time to develop strength to supports its new healthy alignment. And because of the simplicity of the concept of Ortho-Bionomy, it is possible to make this work available to everyone through self-care techniques.
